Vicki Stephens

Vicki Stephens was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and received her early education in Washington and Michigan State. Moving to Louisiana after high school graduation she worked in the manufacturing industry for many years. During these years, her childhood interest in art found expression through drawing and painting. In 1987, after completing studies in Graphic Arts at the Shreveport-Bossier Technical Institute, she worked in the commercial printing industry for 12 years.

 

During this time she exhibited work locally and nationally. After relocating to San Antonio she continued her education by attending San Antonio College and the University of Texas at San Antonio wher she earned her Masters Degree in Printmaking.  As a Printmaker, Vicki's prints have won several awards.  She has shown locally at galleries including Bluestar Satellite Space, UTSA Art Gallery, Stone Metal Press and Justice Works Studio.  In her current work she reflects an interest in form, color, texture and space as well as gender and identity. Drawing from her experience in manufacturing, she also exhibits an interest in systems, and the processes of making art.

Vicki recently had a successful show at the UTSA Satellite Space.
