Gina Adams

Gina Adams' studio in York, Maine provides a window into her world. Artifacts representing her mixed heritage, including lace, beadwork, dolls, and handmade clothing abound in the space, side-by-side with the tools of this encaustic artist. Her working environment reflects the synergy between personal history, cultural influences, and the encaustic medium that drives her work.

Gina Adams' work focuses primarily on her mixed heritage of Ojibwe Native American, Lithuanian and Irish blood lines. Her work involves much research and travel, including language immersion at Turtle Mountain Reservation, and working with the Maori of New Zealand and the Aborigines of Australia. She has exhibited across the country, and is represented by Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, as well as Mary Harding at the George Marshall Gallery in York Harbor, Maine. Her body of work can be seen on her website and a small selection here. She is on the board of the Maine College of Art.

Gina has been passionate about the use of encaustic paint and teaching the medium for five years now in private workshops in her studio as well as through the Maine College of Art.

Gina lives and works in York, Maine.
