Rachman is self-taught, drawing his lessons from his life experiences. He is an avid learner with a natural curiosity. To follow through this lyrical path of creativity with Rachman, you would encounter an instrument maker, vintner, restaurant designer, furniture sculptor, rock climber, musician, environmental planner, exhibit fabricator, symphony and opera stage manager, educator and husband, and father of 4.
All of this eventually led to an overwhelming desire to to come to his senses and just sculpt stone.
During the last year, Rachman assisted Jésus Moroles on a sacred space sculpture at Saint Mary's Hall, the Circular Ziggurat Plaza Fountain at the San Antonio Museum of Art, and a triptych courtyard piece in the Bio-Medical Center in Dallas. He was lead sculptor on a one ton stone piece for the Gazebo Park in Southtown, San Antonio. Large scale work he has shown this year at the Dominion Sculpture International Invitational, Marble Falls "Sculpture on Main Street", the Texas Sculpture Symposium, "Larger Perspective" in San Marcos, and at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center "Sculpture in the Wild." He received the purchase award for the permanent collection at the San Antonio Art League and Museum last year, as well as a sponsor's award and spent two months giving private lessons in Provence, France, and studying stone sculpture in arrara, Pietrasanta, and Florence, Italy.
